The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) unveils new series of banknotes featuring Polymer substrates and enhanced security features. On December 4, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) marked a significant milestone with the launch of Tonga's new series of banknotes. The chosen date for the release holds special significance as it commemorates the birthday of King Tupou I, a key modernizer who reigned from 1845 to 1893. Produced in collaboration with De La Rue, the new banknote series incorporates both paper and polymer substrates, introducing updated security elements to enhance durability and deter counterfeiting. This redesign represents Tonga's first use of polymer in its currency since 2015. The series comprises 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-, and 100-pa’anga notes, with the colors remaining unchanged. Thailand 20 Baht 2022 P142a

The new 20 Baht polymer banknote was unveiled by Dr. Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput, the Governor of The Bank of Thailand, with its official launch date set for 24 March 2022. This transition from paper to polymer represents a pivotal step toward enhancing the quality and durability of the currency. The 20 Baht note, being one of the most widely used denominations, tends to wear out and become soiled more quickly than others, making the move to polymer a practical choice.

The 20 Baht Polymer Banknote boasts a vivid design with a green and pink multicolor underprint, measuring 138 x 72 mm. Its obverse showcases H.M. King Vajiralongkorn, Rama X, clad in the uniform of the Royal Thai Air Force commander.

Turning to the reverse, the banknote features an homage to Thailand's rich history. King Rama I, Phra Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, is depicted alongside the iconic Grand Palace, symbolizing the establishment of Bangkok as the capital. Additionally, King Rama II, Phra Buddha Loetla Nabhalai, is showcased alongside a captivating Thai mural depicting a scene from Enau.
