The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) unveils new series of banknotes featuring Polymer substrates and enhanced security features. On December 4, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) marked a significant milestone with the launch of Tonga's new series of banknotes. The chosen date for the release holds special significance as it commemorates the birthday of King Tupou I, a key modernizer who reigned from 1845 to 1893. Indonesia 20,000 Rupiah 1998 | Pick 138f | PMG Banknote

The 20000 Rupiah banknote, issued by the Bank of Indonesia in 1998 and released in 2003, has achieved an impressive grade from PMG as Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality).

Indonesia 20000 Rupiah P138f

Measuring 152 × 72 mm, this banknote features a striking deep green and dark brown design with a multicolor underprint. It's important to note that the 20000 Rupiah banknote was demonetized on December 31, 2018.

The obverse of the banknote showcases Lord Ganesha on the left and a portrait of Ki Hadjar Dewantara on the right. Lord Ganesha, revered as the God of arts, sciences, and wisdom, and Ki Hajar Dewantara, a prominent Indonesian independence activist and advocate for native Indonesian education during Dutch colonial rule, highlight the nation's cultural and historical richness. The reverse of the banknote depicts a classroom at the center-right, symbolizing the importance of education.

It's worth noting that while Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, with approximately 87.5% of the population adhering to Islam, there is also a significant Hindu minority of around 3%. This diversity is reflected in the presence of Hindu motifs throughout the country's culture and heritage.

PMG (Paper Money Guaranty), established in 2005, is an independent third-party paper money grading service, ensuring the authenticity and quality of banknotes worldwide. Please check my other graded banknote collections.
