The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) unveils new series of banknotes featuring Polymer substrates and enhanced security features. On December 4, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) marked a significant milestone with the launch of Tonga's new series of banknotes. The chosen date for the release holds special significance as it commemorates the birthday of King Tupou I, a key modernizer who reigned from 1845 to 1893. The Reserve Bank of India initially issued the ₹10 denomination banknote of the Mahatma Gandhi New Series in 2017.

This note features the signature of Urjit Patel and showcases a motif of the Sun Temple, Konark, on the reverse side, celebrating India's rich cultural heritage.

The Sun Temple at Konark, located in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its remarkable architectural and artistic brilliance. Built in the 13th century, this temple is dedicated to the sun god Surya and is shaped like a colossal chariot with intricately carved stone wheels, walls, and statues.

The temple complex is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of ancient Odishan architects and artists. Its stunning sculptures depict various aspects of life, mythology, and Hindu deities. The temple was designed to align with the sun, allowing for dramatic plays of light and shadow throughout the day.

Today, the Sun Temple at Konark stands as a symbol of India's rich heritage and is a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Indian temple art and culture.

However, it's essential to note that this particular banknote displays an intriguing and exceptional printing anomaly on the reverse, making it a prized collector's item due to its distinct error and rarity.
