Tonga Introduces New Series of Banknotes into Circulation

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) unveils new series of banknotes featuring Polymer substrates and enhanced security features. On December 4, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) marked a significant milestone with the launch of Tonga's new series of banknotes. The chosen date for the release holds special significance as it commemorates the birthday of King Tupou I, a key modernizer who reigned from 1845 to 1893. Produced in collaboration with De La Rue, the new banknote series incorporates both paper and polymer substrates, introducing updated security elements to enhance durability and deter counterfeiting. This redesign represents Tonga's first use of polymer in its currency since 2015. The series comprises 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-, and 100-pa’anga notes, with the colors remaining unchanged. Egypt 1 Pound 2017 | Pick 71e | PMG Banknote

The 1 Pound Banknote from Egypt was in circulation between 2016 and 2021, issued by the Central Bank of Egypt. This particular banknote has been professionally graded by PMG as Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality).

Measuring 140 x 70 mm, the 1 Pound banknote is predominantly brown in color with a multicolored underprint.

On the obverse side of the banknote, you'll find a striking image of the Sultan Qaitbay Mosque. This stunning architectural marvel is located within the funerary complex of Sultan al-Ashraf Qaytbay in Cairo's Northern Cemetery. Constructed by Sultan al-Ashraf Qaytbay and completed in 1474, it is celebrated for its remarkable beauty and represents a prime example of late Egyptian Mamluk architecture.

The reverse side of the banknote showcases the colossal statues of Ramses II seated at the main entrance to the Great Temple at Abu Simbel, situated near Aswān, Egypt. Running horizontally at the top and bottom of the note, you can see intricate designs inspired by the structure built by Ramses II in front of the Luxor Temple of Amenophis II.
