The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) unveils new series of banknotes featuring Polymer substrates and enhanced security features. On December 4, the National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) marked a significant milestone with the launch of Tonga's new series of banknotes. The chosen date for the release holds special significance as it commemorates the birthday of King Tupou I, a key modernizer who reigned from 1845 to 1893. Produced in collaboration with De La Rue, the new banknote series incorporates both paper and polymer substrates, introducing updated security elements to enhance durability and deter counterfeiting. Brazil 5 Reais 2021 | Pick 253f | PMG Banknote

On the obverse side, an artistic representation of the Symbolic effigy of the Republic is prominently featured, resembling a sculpture. An essential inclusion for accessibility, a tactile mark with a horizontal bar in the lower right corner aids the visually impaired in distinguishing denominations.

Turning to the reverse side, the banknote beautifully captures the image of the Great Egret (Casmerodius albus egretta) amidst lush foliage, accompanied by the graceful flight of a heron nearby.

An interesting note about the year mentioned: The year 2010 does not correspond to the year of issue for this banknote. The sequential numbering format on Brazilian 5 Reais banknotes follows a unique pattern. The letter "I" in the serial number signifies the year 2021, while the second letter designates the month, with "A" representing January and "L" indicating December. This intricate system adds an element of fascination to the banknote's history and collection value.
